Get to Know Brent Elstad, Maintenance & Safety Director

With safety, comes maintenance, or vice versa and that is where Brent Elstad comes in. As Whirltronics Maintenance and Safety Director, Brent is key to ensuring Whirltronics is “the best in class for the customers we serve.”
We asked Brent to share some of his thoughts about working at Whirltronics as the Maintenance and Safety Director.
Did you originally see yourself as a Maintenance and Safety Director?
“Yes and no, I have always worked in the service/repair industry so maintenance and leading teams came naturally to me. However I never saw myself in the safety role, but honestly, maintenance and safety go hand in hand so it has been a smooth transition so far.”
What is a typical workday and what would you say is the best part?
“The best part of my day is that I really don’t have a typical workday. Every day is a different challenge. One day I could be spending the whole day chasing an electrical problem and the next I could be designing a new production line. The only constant is that we are always busy! The constant challenges and fast-paced environment is something I really enjoy.”
What is one thing you wish you knew before working at Whirltronics?
“I spent most of my prior career living in this area but commuting to the cities to work in the same fields/trades. I only wish I would have known about Whirltronics sooner so I could have made the transition earlier in life and skipped all those hours in a service vehicle or traffic! It is a refreshing change to work for a stable company that cares about its employees and has strong ties within the community.”
What is your favorite thing about working at Whirltronics?
“We have the best of both worlds here at Whirltronics. We are a family-orientated company with rapid growth and opportunities. I am constantly learning new skills and technologies to keep up with the demand of the business.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I enjoy anything outdoors whether it’s fishing, camping, or hunting. Spending time with my family. And working on side projects.”
